A What?!!

"Can we go back to the future. The past is kind of dorky."

Jimmy Newtron

So, I have two bits of quasi-exciting news. First, I died my hair black today ... again. I just like having black hair. Although it does surprise me every time I do it. Second, and more exciting, is that I finally finished sewing my crinoline. "Your what?", you're asking me. A crinoline is similar to a hoop skirt except it has hoops all the way up the skirt instead of just at the bottom. Anyway, it's exciting because I have been working on it for about a year and a half. Now I just need to find and buy boning for it. (Boning is the plastic/metal strip that forms the hoops.)

P.S. This is how I look now when I put my hair in pigtails (referring to the above picture) ... sans the fire ants.

How Long Have I Been Out Of High School?

"The lesson here is that dreams inevitable lead to hideous implosions."

Invader Zim

I had a dream the other night. In the dream I was responsible for setting up decorations for a wedding reception. The problem I faced was that I couldn't park my car near the door to the building in which the reception was being held and I had a bunch of big bins full of decorations that I needed to get in the building. So I parked my car at the bottom of a hill, as close to the door as possible. Luckily two guys came along and helped me. One of them was someone from my highschool, Lance Thompson. The other one was Marshal, from the tv show How I Met Your Mother. It was an odd dream.

Introspection

“Knowing is better than wondering. Waking is better than sleeping. And even the biggest failure, even the worst, most intractable mistake beats the hell out of never trying.”

Grey’s Anatomy

Post-surgery requires a lot of lying around, and lying around forces a lot of thinking.

Teachers Like The End Too ... Who Knew?

"Why do all your lessons end in nudity?"

Potter Puppet Pals

Woohoo!! So, I am officially done with this semester. I went in today and finished the last bit of work I had to do. Now I don't have to go back until June 12-ish, or whenever I feel like going in and starting preparations for my summer class. I just thought you should all know so you can celebrate with me ... and by celebrate I mean clean my room.

My Life In A Nutshell

"Ladies and gentlemen, and honored daughters, while Mr. Kim, by virtue of his youth and naivete, has fallen prey to the inexplicable need for human contact, let me step in and assure you that my research will go on uninterrupted and that social relationships will continue to baffle and repulse me."

Big Bang Theory

So it has been a long time since my last post. Sorry! Let me catch you up on what's been going on in my life.
First, I got sick. And that may be the understatement of the month. I got colitis ... ulcerative colitis ... Crohn's disease ...? Ok, so the doctors aren't exactly sure what happened. Basically, my colon had a bunch of ulcers in it and it swelled up. What that meant for me was a visit to a general doctor, a visit to a GI specialist, two blood draws, a colonoscopy, no food, large amounts of throwing up, a trip to the ER, another blood draw, a CT scan, two days in a hospital, and another visit to the GI specialist. Only to be put on a "wait and see" plan. If you want more details, let me know. But you should be warned that it is a disease of my colon so really how much more detailed can you want?
My second big news is that I went out on a date. It was a set up with my friend's husband's friend. I had so much fun. We all (my friend, her husband, my set-up date and me) went out to dinner, then watched a movie, which was ok. Then we played rock band, which is my new favorite game. (Rock on Becky.) I should let you all know that I am the most rock-awesome bass guitar player. Ya, that's right. Anyway, it was tons of fun.
My last piece of big news is that my set-up date asked me out again. Don't worry, I checked and the world hasn't stopped spinning. This time we went to the Renaissance Fair in Moscow. It was also tons of fun, marred a little bit by the fact that it was after the aforementioned colon fiasco. I'll just say that the fair had very, very nice places to sit down and rest. And, yes, I did find all of them. It was so great just to be out in the sun walking around and not glued to my couch.
I think that's all my big news for now. My upcoming event is the end of school. Woohoo! I never knew that teachers got just as excited about the end as students did. I will keep everyone updated on that and any other events in my life. No more month-long silent spells.

More Sequins Please

"My grandfather always told me ‘son, if you want to learn about an Argentinean dance that’s about prostitutes, speak to a Mormon.’”

Dancing With The Stars

First, I have to state that I want a job that requires me to wear sequins. I love Dancing with the Stars. I watch both shows every week (yes, Tish, even the results show). Every time I watch it I wish that I was a star so I could be on the show. Then I had to ask myself why I want to be on the show so badly. The most obvious reason is because it would be uber fun to learn all those dances. And, yes, I would be rock awesome … or something. But last night, as I was watching, I realized that there is another reason and that is because of the clothes and makeup and hair. It would be super-uber fun to dress up like they do. I think it was mostly Christy Yamaguchi’s hair. It was fabulous.
